m zaki's biodata

Mohammed Zaki Zakaria is a self-taught artist. He was born in 1963 in a small village of the coast of Besut in Terengganu. Showed interest in art since he was a child. Trained in the architectural school at a local polytechnic, Zaki obtained his basic training in a field which later shaped his direction in the creative world of  painting. In 1993 Zaki left the architectural profession to start his career as a full time artist which has been his passion since childhood.

Among his favorite themes are nature, flora and fauna, the study of living things, architecture, historical buildings, Malay heritages, and perspectives. Zaki has preferred to use watercolor although oil-paint and acrylic were also his specialties. To him, the watercolor could express his feeling, and the results were excellent. But, before giving attention seriously to watercolor, Zaki had started the oil-paint and acrylic briefly.

Having felt something should be changed, in the mid of 2007 Zaki began to shift the media. It is from watercolor to oil-paint. At the moment, Zaki applies oil medium in his paintings.
